Cancer Research Technology (CRT)

Cancer Research Technology (CRT) is an oncology focused, development and commercialisation company, wholly owned by its parent charity Cancer Research UK.

CRT's primary role is to work with Cancer Research UK, and other academic partners both in the UK and overseas, to source and develop new cancer discoveries. This is achieved through partnership with companies. CRT recently established a subsidiary company - CRT Inc. - to develop relationships with universities in the US and provide a new source of cancer projects. CRT's academic partners include:

  • Netherlands Cancer Institute
  • Danish Cancer Society
  • Leukaemia Research Fund
  • Marie Curie Cancer Care
  • and many others

CRT has a strong track record of filing patents on novel opportunities and successfully commercialising them through licence and/or collaboration agreements and, in some instances, by establishing start-up companies and securing venture capital funding. In addition to its standard commercial activities, CRT has a Development Laboratory that it utilises to add value to new opportunities before seeking a commercial partner. CRT's portfolio currently comprises:

  • Portfolio of >250 projects with many available for licensing;
  • >10 projects in the Development Laboratory;
  • >10 late stage pre-clinical development partnerships;
  • >20 licensed therapeutics in clinical development;
  • 3 agents currently marketed by commercial partners;
  • >20 start up companies.

CRT has an experienced multi-disciplinary team comprising over 80 staff based in one of two sites in central London. The office is located at Sardinia House in Lincoln's Inn Fields with staff of its Development Laboratory based at the Wolfson Institute (part of University College London).
